I’m a freelance journalist in London, having returned in 2012 after three years in Beijing. Previously, I’ve reported from countries including Burma (Myanmar), China, Thailand, Syria, Israel/Palestine, Oman and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
As a freelancer, I’ve written for a range of media including IRIN, a web-based humanitarian news agency run by the UN; The National, a daily newspaper published in Abu Dhabi, UAE; the Al Jazeera website; and the Christian Science Monitor – examples of my work can be seen on the Work page.
I love photography and have had photos published alongside many of the stories I write – check out the Photos page.
I also work as a freelance interpreter and translator – check out the Interpreting page. I’m fluent in French and German and speak varying amounts of Spanish, Arabic and Mandarin Chinese.
